Discover Your Power Within: A Journey To Self-Healing
There was a time when I found myself trapped in a cycle of depression, anxiety, and chronic pain, going through the motions of life without any real sense of purpose.
I was caught up in the relentless rat race, pushing myself to keep going, but always feeling like something was missing.
Each day felt like a challenge to survive rather than an opportunity to thrive.
I was constantly on edge, bracing myself for the next bad thing to happen.
I often asked myself, “Is this all there is to life? Isn’t there something more?”
What if I told you that there is—that you have the ability to heal yourself?
We’ve all experienced suffering at some point in our lives, whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual. These experiences leave us with unhealed wounds that can affect our overall well-being.
One thing that we have to keep in mind: experiencing traumatic events wasn’t our fault, but healing from them is our responsibility. Ouch, I know – this is where the adventure begins and self-healing takes place.
Self-healing is an essential part of life for us humans to:
- become at peace with ourselves
- become conscious of the present moment
- be able to connect with others with an open mind
Self-healing is a journey that we all experience differently since we all come from different experiences and backgrounds.
Once we start this healing journey,we start looking deeply within ourselves and start noticing the patterns and negative behaviors we’ve taken on over the years.
We become more aware of our surroundings and how our wounds make us react to certain situations.
Going to the root cause of our current behavior, understanding it, and consciously reprogramming our thought patterns—this is what I call: The Inner Power.
Before we dive into Inner Power, let me introduce myself.
Hi, I’m Tricia, an energy healer & Reiki Master and I help people like you on this self-healing journey.
Since my spiritual awakening back in 2009, I’ve been on this enlightening spiritual adventure of learning about my true self and my shadow self.
I’ve been able to connect with my higher self, and I’ve found my inner power. I’ve healed myself to the point of loving life, and I’ve found my purpose on this Earth: to help others achieve their personal goals.

What is Inner Power and How Does it Relate to Healing?
When we think of something powerful, we mostly think of something strong and invincible–like Iron Man, if you’re a Marvel fan.
But in my vocabulary, being powerful means having the ability to take action and influence others with your beliefs.
When we talk about Inner Power, it means we have the ability to take action on our behaviours and control how we react to the outer world.
Once we understand that we are not our thoughts and can observe them without reacting or holding onto emotions, we become POWERFUL.
When we are able to understand, accept, and love ourselves as we are, we begin to do the same for others.
You are able to do this when you become in touch with your higher self. Oh yes, that higher self. The one who knows all the answers, your true and authentic self.
Your higher self has always been there and will always be there, but we often forget about it.
We have so much information and stimulation around us all the time that focusing on what truly matters often gets lost.
This is why understanding your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors is crucial for self-awareness and beginning the healing process.
Understanding the Mind-Body Connection for Self Healing
Thoughts create reality. We’ve all heard this before, and it’s true.
Thoughts are sooo powerful.
When you think about something, it creates a frequency, and this frequency goes somewhere—it comes back to you in some way.
When you fall into the habit of thinking negatively, have you noticed that everything around you seems to be exactly like you think?
Like the universe is testing you in some way? Everything that happens seems to feed these thoughts.
This is because your reality is just a projection of your thoughts.
Here is an example of the red car that you’ve probably heard a thousand times: when you think of a red car, you start seeing red cars everywhere.
Why is that?
Because that is where you’re putting your focus.
The same goes for any other thoughts, negative or positive; you get to CHOOSE your perspective. Isn’t that cool?
If you believe something about yourself, whether positive or negative, you become it.
Thoughts create action, and action creates your life.
You either move towards your goals by aligning your steps, or you go against them by not taking action.
Now, if you choose a positive perspective, this doesn’t mean that negative thoughts will never come around.
Having negative thoughts is absolutely normal—we all have them.
But what you need to keep in mind is that thoughts are not you.
You are not your thoughts, and I know that sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish what is reality and what is just a thought…
Here’s a Good Perspective on Thoughts
Imagine you are looking at a highway and you see lots of cars passing by really fast.
Now, let’s say those cars are your thoughts.
You can either decide to observe them passing by or start running after one.
If you choose to chase after a passing car, then another and another, you’ll most likely end up frustrated and exhausted.
It’s the same with thoughts.
Sometimes we tend to get into the cycle of thinking, one thought after another.
As humans, we like being in control, and we think that thinking will give us more control over a situation. In reality, it doesn’t.
Before falling into this never-ending cycle, observe those thoughts—observe the cars passing by.
This is where learning techniques to observe your thoughts becomes a good starting point for your healing journey. It will help you slow down your mind and think more clearly.
3 Techniques to Tap into Your Inner Power
Let’s access your inner power, connect with your higher self, and clear your mind of unnecessary thoughts.
1. Mindfulness and Meditation
Oh yes, that word: meditation.
You’re either curious about it or you want to run away from it.
When we think of meditation, we often picture using a guided meditation app and trying not to think about anything.
But that’s not what I mean by meditation.
Meditating is about sitting with yourself—sometimes in silence—and truly feeling your inner emotions.
Oof, but how do you do that?
Breath Work
Focusing on your breathing is one of the greatest techniques to relax your body, mind, and soul.
Being able to focus on this one thing in particular will activate your body’s parasympathetic nervous system and help you with your stress, mood, and overall well-being.
A little tip: When you’re breathing, try to breathe from your belly and not from your chest; it makes a huge difference.
When you’re focusing on your breathing, it is normal that thoughts will pass by:
- Observe them
- Accept them
- Say thank you for stopping by
- Go back to focusing on your breathing
- Repeat
Start small.
Doing this for just 5-10 minutes every day can significantly bring you from chaos to calm, allowing you to reset your nervous system and shift from a state of stress and anxiety to one of relaxation and clarity.
2. Affirmations and Positive Thinking
We’ve talked about negative thinking and its impact on our lives.
Now, let’s talk about positive thinking.
Did you know that thinking and behaving a certain way is a habit? Good news! This means you can change it!
Forming new habits takes time and effort, just like a muscle—the more you work on it every day, the stronger it gets.
It’s the same with your thoughts; over time, your thoughts can shift and positive self-talk becomes your new normal.
Here are some tips that can help you:
- Catch yourself when you’re engaging in negative self-talk: the more you catch yourself, the more you’ll break the cycle.
- Say positive affirmations: once you’ve caught yourself thinking negatively about yourself, it’s a great place to replace those thoughts with positive ones.
- Example:
- “I am not good enough” → “I did my best today”
- “I always make mistakes” → “I do many things well”
- “He’s better than me” → “Everybody has different strengths and weaknesses; I am good at…”
- Example:
- Your environment plays a huge role in your life: whether you’re conscious of it or not, you can absorb other people’s energy and emotions when they’re around you. This includes positive and negative, so choose wisely and don’t let just anyone into your circle.
- Have fun with it: being able to laugh about it can relieve stress and pressure on yourself when trying to change a habit. Don’t be too hard on yourself, and remember that changing a habit takes time! You don’t have to be perfect; that’s the beauty of being human!
- Keep a personal diary: check in with yourself daily. Having a bad thought? Write it down and replace it with a positive affirmation. Writing it down helps to see the cycle of thought patterns.
3. Visualization Techniques
Imagery (visualization) has been used as a tool in multiple therapies for centuries and is one of the best techniques to use in self-healing.
By creating images in your mind, you can reduce suffering and other symptoms and bring yourself a sense of inner peace.
Visualization is not just about imagining pictures but also using all of your senses: touch, hearing, smell, and even taste.
The more you do it, the more you will be able to sense your imagination, and the more it will become your reality (remember: thoughts create reality).
What’s fun about using your imagination is that you can use these techniques literally anytime, anywhere, and you can imagine yourself anywhere you’d like to be.
It’s like taking a mini-vacation from the world and brings you all sorts of emotions.
The Role of Emotions in Healing
One of the many things we didn’t learn in school was how to manage our emotions.
Emotions are a form of energy, and understanding this is crucial: if we want to connect with and understand others, we have to understand ourselves first.
Has it ever happened to you that a parent or teacher told you to stop crying because you were crying for no reason?
This probably caused you to repress that emotion.
Over time, if you’ve learned to do that with one emotion after another, these repressed emotions remain inside the body, causing discomfort, stress, and suffering.
This is why finding the root cause of an emotion to release it is so important.
But where do I start?
Let me help you with that.
A Holistic Practice for Self-Healing
Let’s talk a little about Reiki
What Is Reiki and How Can I Help You With Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese spiritual healing technique that involves healing through touch to help release stuck energy in the body, balance the chakras, and promote healing.
- Rei = Universe or Life force
- Ki = The physical energy of the body
Reiki means “universal life force energy.”
For centuries, Reiki has been practiced and taught, helping millions of people work through their body, mind, and spirit blockages and suffering.
I’ve been practicing Reiki for years now and have helped many people on this healing journey, including myself.
