Chakra Healing: 7 Tips for a Healthier Energy System
Chakra healing = energy healing. The chakras are the grand poobahs of your energy system. How well they function determines how healthy you are and how good your life is, so it’s really in your best interests to ensure they are in good shape.
Here are 7 tips for healing your chakras so your energy system is healthier and your life is more enjoyable
Get outside
Your first chakra, the root chakra, absolutely loves being out in nature. This chakra is about our connection to Earth, family, and tribe; how safe we feel; and our ability to meet our physical needs. When we’re outside, we increase the vibration of the first chakra, which allows it to let go of blockages and begin to heal and rebalance. All you have to do is spend some time in a beautiful park, go for a hike, or just walk barefoot in your yard and you’ll give your energy system a boost.
Take a bath
Your second chakra loves water so baths, hot tubs, and lakes all make it happy. The second chakra holds our emotions and desires, and it’s where our creative inspiration comes from. It also governs our relationships, particularly with our mothers, our children, and the people we have sex with. Try a bath with magnesium bath salt and an all-natural orange colouring agent (the second chakra vibrates to the same resonance as the colour orange). You can also add an essential oil like geranium or rosewood to the water.
Get fancy in the kitchen
All your chakras resonate and are healed by certain foods. The third chakra, the solar plexus chakra, prefers yellow foods, cheese, and grains because these foods match its vibration. Spaghetti squash with pasta sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan and a side of garlic toast would be a perfect meal for helping this chakra heal. Or how about a grilled cheese sandwich with a side salad of pineapple, apricot, and mango? Healing your chakras doesn’t get much easier or more delightful.
Give yourself pink flowers
I am a big proponent of radical self love because there just isn’t enough self loving going on in this world, so this is one of my favourites. The heart chakra is the fourth chakra and it resonates with the vibration of the colour pink as well as that of green. The pink reflects self love and the green reflects our ability to love one another. While we want to heal our heart chakra enough to feel love for all of humankind, it can actually be harder to feel unconditional love for ourselves. Keep pink flowers around to help you remember how wonderful you are. A single flower beside your bed can help you overcome morning grouchiness and remind you of the beauty of life as soon as you open your eyes.
Sing or chant
There’s nothing better for balancing the throat chakra, your fifth chakra, than using your voice. If you’re holding too much energy there, singing or chanting a mantra will help release it. If you have too little energy in this chakra, using your voice will help it open up and heal. If you hold tension in your jaw (and doesn’t everybody?), you can try a voice exercise singers and actors use: keep your tongue on the bottom of your mouth and say “la la la la la la” over and over again. I do this when I’m alone in the car, comforted by the fact that I can say “It’s a voice exercise” if anyone should ever ask me what the hell I’m doing.
Put on your blue jeans
Your sixth chakra, the third eye chakra located between the eyebrows, resonates with the colour indigo. Happily, we often find indigo in our closets and can wear it to help balance and heal the third eye chakra. You can also wear, carry, or meditate on stones such as indigo kyanite, turquoise, and purpurite, all considered sixth chakra crystals. (Colour and crystals can be used to help balance any of your chakras.) Meditation is great for this chakra, so cross your blue-jeaned legs, commit to feeling and watching rather than doing, and help your third eye heal.
Help a brother out
The crown chakra, your seventh chakra, carries the message that we are all one. It’s our connection to divinity, intuition, and wisdom and when it is healed and balanced we know that we are not separate but all intimately connected. Serving others is a wonderful way to help heal this chakra, whether we engage in a formal volunteer arrangement or surprise a stranger on the spur of the moment. Always remember that we need to balance serving others with serving ourselves. Too much of either without a balance leaves you drained.
